We’re thrilled to be partnering with Symbiosis Coalition on its latest RFP for high-quality nature-based carbon removal projects, as part of its ambitious plan to invest in 20mn tonnes of high-integrity nature-based carbon removal projects by 2030. You can find more details and respond to the RFP here.
More and more companies are tuning into the power of nature-based carbon removals as scalable solutions removing CO2 from the atmosphere. As a result, nature-based removal project types such as reforestation, agroforestry, and blue carbon are rapidly increasing in popularity as a means to improve, diversify, and de-risk carbon credit portfolios.
Amid such demand, locating and supporting transformative projects with the most potential for climate mitigation is a complex task. That’s why we’re proud to be the platform of choice for Symbiosis for this RFP.
Together, we’re evolving the way the market procures while also helping to deliver one of the most ambitious advance commitments in the voluntary carbon market: scaling to 20 megatonnes of high-integrity carbon removal credits by 2030. That’s not just a number. It represents forests restored, communities benefited, species supported, and impact on the climate crisis.
Redesigning the RFP for the next generation
In 2025, we supported Symbiosis with market intelligence to inform preliminary screening of projects that applied to Symbiosis’ first RFP.
This year, we’re supporting their procurement needs through the provision of a customised version of our RFP platform. This includes a rolling, multi-stage intake model that replaces traditional fixed submission windows and creates a continuous pipeline, increasing the speed and efficiency of the process and reducing the burden for developers responding to the RFP.
The approach, constructed following extensive feedback sessions with carbon project developers, is designed to allow developers to submit information progressively as they move through evaluation gates, rather than front-loading all information into a single exhaustive submission. If a project isn’t the right fit, they find out more quickly so they can spend their time and resources on opportunities that are. It also creates a more manageable and evenly distributed workload for evaluation.
To support Symbiosis’ needs, we’ve integrated automated geospatial screening, customised risk screening, and streamlined pipeline management built around Symbiosis’ criteria into a single workflow. These features deliver speed and efficiency at scale, and reflect the same commitment to rigour that defines Symbiosis’ industry-leading approach. The result: Symbiosis has full visibility across every submission and the ability to track and advance projects within a single platform.
A platform proven at scale
We’ve spent three years building what we believe is the most advanced RFP platform in the voluntary carbon market. Through it, we’ve sourced more than 1bn tonnes of carbon credits through over 1,600 proposal submissions. The platform has been recognised with the Environmental Finance Voluntary Carbon Market Rankings Award for Best Market Innovation in 2025.
Symbiosis aims to catalyse the supply of, and unlock lower-cost upfront financing for, the next generation of nature-based carbon removal projects that struggle to access financing today. We look forward to continuing to build upon our partnership with Symbiosis and help advance their efforts to build the market for high-integrity nature-based carbon removal.
