Market Themes are a new feature within our intelligence platform that organises our market analysis, commentary, and critical events into focused, topic-driven sections. Each theme covers a major market trend or regulatory framework, allowing you to quickly access the information most relevant to your needs.
Each Theme page contains:
- A topic overview – providing a comprehensive but easily digestible introduction to the subject, the key organisations and handy ‘Good to know’ information boxes
- A timeline of key events – covering historical milestones and why they are important, and important future dates
- The current state of play – regularly updated information on recent developments and relevant industry updates and market news, curated by our expert analysts
- A layer of Abatable’s intelligence – all information is viewed through Abatable’s unique intelligence lens, with the integration of data-driven analysis, supply and demand insights and future forecasts
Why did we create Market Themes?
We built Market Themes in response to the growing demand for more targeted, easily accessible insights within the Abatable market intelligence platform.
Users have told us that while they value our comprehensive data and analysis, they would also benefit from a quicker way to zero in on specific topics. This is particularly the case in the fast-paced voluntary carbon market, where topics are often influenced by a complex interplay between market factors, politics and economics.

What Themes are available now?
We’ve launched Market Themes covering CORSIA (the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) and the IC-VCM’s Core Carbon Principles. These are just the beginning, and we’re eager to hear your feedback on what additional Themes would be most valuable to you.
Our CORSIA Theme showcases the current state of the scheme’s pilot and phased rollout, the countries involved in CORSIA and the registries that have been approved. It also includes an analysis of predicted supply and demand under CORSIA.
The IC-VCM Core Carbon Principles (CCP) theme provides an overview of the CCPs, the methodologies that have been CCP approved by IC-VCM, and Abatable’s forecasts of the likelihood of further methodologies getting a CCP label.
What Themes are in the pipeline?
We are continuously working to expand the range of Market Themes available on our intelligence platform. In the near future, you can expect new Themes that cover emerging markets, evolving regulatory landscapes and other critical topics that our users care about.
