Last year’s COP28 ended with a lack of consensus on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, leaving negotiators with a significant task to finalise Article 6 guidance at COP29, which starts on 11 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.
As the only Article in the Paris Agreement that refers to private entities, progress on Article 6 at COP29 will significantly affect outcomes for businesses and other market participants. The outcome will also have implications for market-based cooperation globally across both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. Given this, the incoming COP Presidency has identified Article 6 as one of its priorities for the conference.
In this webinar, Article 6: What to watch out for at COP29, and why it matters, Abatable, Gold Standard and an expert panel outline and unpack some of the key Article 6 topics to be discussed in Baku, covering everything from revocation to Article 6.4 implementation, and explain why they matter for the market.
The discussion took place on Wednesday 30 October 2024 at 15.00 GMT.
The webinar is part of Abatable and Gold Standard’s Implementing Article 6 webinar series.
