Last year’s COP28 ended with a lack of consensus on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, leaving negotiators with a significant task to finalise Article 6 guidance at COP29, which starts on 11 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.

As the only Article in the Paris Agreement that refers to private entities, progress on Article 6 at COP29 will significantly affect outcomes for businesses and other market participants. The outcome will also have implications for market-based cooperation globally across both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. Given this, the incoming COP Presidency has identified Article 6 as one of its priorities for the conference.

In this webinar, Article 6: What to watch out for at COP29, and why it matters, Abatable, Gold Standard and an expert panel will outline and unpack some of the key Article 6 topics to be discussed in Baku, covering everything from revocation to Article 6.4 implementation, and explain why they matter for the market.

Our panellists are:

  • Hugh Salway – Senior Director, Market Development and Partnerships, Gold Standard
  • Pedro Carvalho – Head of Policy and Markets, EcoSecurities
  • Lisa DeMarco – Senior Partner and CEO, Resilient
  • Natalia Dorfman – CEO and Co-founder, Kita
