In this episode of Developing Carbon Stories, we speak with Lily Rodriguez, a Peruvian herpetologist and biodiversity expert and one of the founders of Peru’s Centre for the Conservation, Research and Management of Natural Areas, or CIMA for short.
We discuss how Lily helped establish Peru’s Cordillera Azul National Park, and how REDD+ provides the funding to help prevent deforestation within the park and its buffer zone. We also explore Lily’s passion for biodiversity and forest conservation, which was hugely influenced by a special encounter with an indigenous group, deep in the forest.
